I have long worked in education, formal and informal, and since 2014, in the general field of wellness, epigenetics including the spiritual world as we know DNA is fluid. I have taught doctors.
Epigenetics has several definitions. I intend here to use it for environmental wellness.
Recently I have interacted with many regarding emotional and physical issues. Many cannot sleep. Many, including the military, have been helped by a blog post of mine from 2017: Insomnia, C/PTSD, and Nightmares: Heal Yourself (I have never gotten to part two. Maybe we will here.)
HOW we live, the environment, our lifestyle, food, friends, and especially stress levels determine our quality of life. Evidence abounds and you, as we all are, I believe our own laboratory. Finding balance is an art and flexibility key.
I suggest being able to commune and collaborate well with others will enrich your life. HOW we live, the choices we make, literally MATTERS, as in creating our world for better or worse. Being able to act and reflect with skill, matters and creates our world.Reflexivity is a real word and in various academic areas of study can have slightly different meanings. I opt for first an academic definition based on social equality and second for a definition that simply means “the ability to reflect with ourselves and others as we create our lives.”
From academics, I like, especially at this time of chaos and revolutionary possibility, Brain Fay’s Contemporary Philosophy of the Social Sciences: A Multicultural Approach (1996) because he offers a definition that intends equality and mutual respect. (Paid subscribers will receive a poster of these values).
On the metaphysical side, I suggest the best things in life may be invisible. When I first read these words from Jimmy Carter I was enchanted.See how they FEEL to you and notice that feeling and what thoughts come into your mind. You might journal. We will consider in-depth how feelings, conscious or unconscious, create our world, create matter.
I am hopeful we can reflect on these newsletters with dignity and mutual respect. From my years working with the Earth and her people, I choose a life of respect and peace even as many seem to prefer chaos and rugged individualism, believing freedom comes with no responsibilties. I, after a long life and much experience, disagree. I hope you agree enough to engage here.
Our greatest gift as humans may be our ability to care. - Nancy Peden, 1990/2021
Welcome to Reflexivity. May wellbeing be yours and ours and especially the Planet’s.
